In January 1996 the Godley Group of companies, based out of Charlotte, North Carolina joined forces with William C. Morris to form the Godley Morris Group, a limited liability corporation, based in Lake City, South Carolina. The focus and mission of this company was to develop corporate investments, capital investments, real estate acquisitions, and other diversified investment transaction throughout the Southeastern region of the United States.

Since the beginning in 1996, the Godley Morris Group has been involved in around twenty investment transactions that has generated sound and meaningful returns for the company. The philosophy of Godley Morris has been a sound and fiscal involvement in transactions that are low in risk and have a potential high return for the company. A lot of these investments and transactions have been directed toward companies with growing potentials that need capital and undervalued equipment and real estate assets that were assets that were acquired at less than dollar market value.

The company's philosophy carries the same philosophy as the Godley family of companies that has one of the best reputations in the South and that is one of honesty, integrity, and very simple “hard work ethics. The Godley family theme is that "a lot of people dream of success and we wake up every day and work hard at achieving it."

In 1935, Chick and Margaret Godley left the dust bowl depression of Colorado and wanted a better life and ended up in Charlotte, North Carolina. From a meager beginning in the late 1930's where they initially started auctioning horses, mules, cattle, and livestock to a company that their sons have continued to develop into one of the largest independent auction companies in the Southeast where they conduct more than one hundred auctions each year and generate millions of dollars in these transactions.

The Godley family has become synonymous to the auction industry throughout the South. Within the auction industry the company diversified into sales of industrial construction equipment, farm implements, and vast real estate and land holdings throughout the Eastern part of the United States. In reference to the equipment business, Godley Equipment is one of the largest farm implement sales centers in the United States. Over the last sixty years with this business foundation, the Godley family of companies now owns, or has majority ownership in eighteen different companies based throughout the Southeast.

The formation of Godley Morris Group was based on utilizing capital of the Godley Group of companies to acquire diversified investments throughout the Southeast. The Godley Morris Group operates corporately out of the Godley Morris Building and also is in the initial foundation stages of developing the Godley Morris Commerce Center, which will adjoin their facility. The Godley Morris Group carries the same fundamental concept and ideas that the Godley family had developed over sixty years and that is one of good business ethics and practices and one that builds solid relationships with companies and customers and at the same time builds a strong community relationship.
